Worried about a young person?

In a safeguarding emergency, please visit or call MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub) here or via phone at 0203 373 4600.

If you are in immediate danger, phone 999

If you're worried about crime, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111

If you have concerns about a child's safety or wellbeing, call NSPCC on 0800 028 0285 Mon - Fri 8-5pm or contact them online.

Report street harrassment in Newham directly to Stop Hate UK using the Newham Stay Safe app. Find out more and download the app on the Council website.

Report an incident on public transport

Report incidents on buses to the Met police on 101 or online.

For incidents on Tube and rail, you can text what happened, where and when, to 61016

Referring young people and families into support services

There are lots of support services in Newham that can help the young people and families you work with.

Free training for frontline workers

The Social Welfare Alliance runs free training for anyone who works in Newham on a huge range of topics, such as:

Act As 1: Our Voluntary Sector Working Together

Act-as-1 is a group of charities that work together to support our young people and their families across Newham.

They work in Canning Town north, Custom House and Plaistow South to impact the safety of young people. Five nights a week they provide youth workers on the streets to engage with young people after school. They also offer after school clubs, sports clubs and mentoring.
