Early Help Parenting Programmes
In partnership with schools, children’s centres and the community and voluntary sector, Newham offers a range of programmes, workshops and online resources for parents to access for free. A list of all available programmes are detailed on their website with a short description.
Free emotional wellbeing courses
Newham Council has partnered with the Solihull Approach to offer free access to expertly designed online courses for parents, carers, grandparents and teens living in the region.
Sign up to understand your child’s feelings, as well as your own, as you go through life as a family. Learn to understand the changes in your child’s development and how to support them to make the most out of each relationship.
Parents in Mind Perinatal Mental Health Peer Support
Parents in Mind (PiM) is a National Childbirth Trust (NCT) project providing peer support for women who are experiencing poor mental health during pregnancy or within two years after birth. The project aims to improve wellbeing, reduce isolation, increase confidence and facilitate access to relevant information and other appropriate services.
Newham Nurture
Newham Nurture is a community partnership with NCT, Alternatives Trust, The Magpie Project and Compost London. The programme supports women through pregnancy and up to two years after birth from low income, migrant and marginalised backgrounds experiencing financial hardship and disadvantage.
Family Wellbeing Hub
Free hot food, art workshops, wellbeing activities, music, games and intro to BSL every Sunday.
Botanical Brothers Gardening Project for Fathers
Botanical Brothers is a new initiative to support fathers and male carers from ethnically diverse backgrounds in Newham with their wellbeing.
Perinatal Support Group
Are you a mother/ father/ carer experiencing low mood or mental health difficulties with a child aged under 1 years old? Please join us for monthly group sessions for peer to peer support.
Time with Dad workshop for new fathers and male carers
The ‘Time with Dad’ session aims to support new fathers / male carers to participate in hand-on activities that enhance bonding and connection with their infants, especially in the early days.
Newham Parent Forum
The Newham Parent Forum (NPF) is a voluntary group of parents and carers of children and young people (0-25) with special/additional needs and disabilities (SEND) living in Newham.
Mama Meet Up
Mummy’s Day Out is a network for mothers to be inspired, empowered, and encouraged on their motherhood journey through events and workshops. We have partnered with OCEAN who work with women and birthing people who are affected by birth trauma and birth loss in Newham, Hackney and Tower Hamlets.
Caring Dads Domestic Abuse Programme
We offer programmes for fathers where there has been domestic abuse. This can be done in group work or 1-1.
