A human library is a place where stories are told through people instead of books, this is a Danish idea formulated in the year 2000. These ‘books’ are people who share their personal experiences and stories in a respectful and safe environment, typically surrounding topics such as discrimination, social exclusion, or stigma.

Local resident Rashida Zaman will talk about overcoming challenges around Islamophobia and open a discussion around mental health. Rashida overcame depression, suicidal tendencies, anxiety, BDD and self harm and will share her journey into better well-being through exercise, faith , gratitude, and journaling.

She has now set up an organisation to help young people and women to overcome depression.
