Lifelong Learning – Understand Opportunities and Benefits in Newham

Learning as an adult is amazing – there are so many benefits and completely different to school days. However, many people do not feel able to learn or do not see it as a relevant option.

This session will provide information and inspiration for anyone who wants a new goal or positive step in their life.

You will leave being able to advise:

  1. Why learning is uniquely placed to help someone feeling stuck or who has found employability / volunteering activities too much.
  2. How to help someone overcome concerns e.g. finance, juggling childcare and caring responsibilities, level of English, relevant qualifications.
  3. Different options available, from free, online courses to longer term and formal; and how to choose.

Delivered by 2 facilitators who specialise in advising community groups in Newham. We help lots of people, including:

  • Someone at the beginning stages of learning English.
  • Asylum seekers and refugees.
  • Parents who are returning to the workforce / want a change.
  • People with long term mental health issues.
  • Someone who is isolated and wants more social connection.
  • Disabled people and those with different learning needs.

We aim for you to leave feeling able to recommend various learning activities for people under your care, or feel inspired yourself!

We will also be available to discuss individual cases on a 121 basis at a later date.
