World AIDS Day December 1st

This annual event holds every December 1st raises awareness about HIV/AIDS, commemorates those who have lost their lives, and celebrates progress in prevention, treatment, and care.

Since January 2018, the Fast-Track Cities initiative aims to end the HIV epidemic by 2030.

Newham fully supports this initiative, striving for zero new HIV infections, zero preventable deaths, and zero HIV-associated stigma by 2030. We ensure every Newham resident living with HIV is supported, and those at risk have access to prevention and testing.

Coming Soon! Sexual Health Conversations Video

We had the immense pleasure of joining our incredible local HIV experts, Dr. Ronx Ikharia, Dr. Emily Chung, and Dr. James Stevenson, for an insightful discussion on the successes and achievements in HIV prevention and treatment. We also delved into innovative ideas for overcoming local barriers to accessing HIV testing in London Borough of Newham, with a strong focus on tackling stigma as the most immediate challenge.

It was an inspiring day filled with valuable conversations and a shared commitment to making a difference in our community. Let’s continue to work together to break down these barriers and support each other to end the HIV epidemic by 2030. 💪❤️

Our conversation took place at the Sir Ludwig Guttman Centre, Newham’s Centre of Excellence for All East Specialist Sexual Health Service, and we will be delighted to share the highlights of this conversation with you on December 1st to mark the annual World AIDS Day - so watch the space!
