Self-Care Week
We are supporting Self-care week from the 18-24 November 2024. This is an annual national awareness week that focuses on embedding support for self-care across communities, families and generations.
The theme for 2024 is Mind & Body
What is self-care?
Self-care is the actions people take for themselves, or for others, in order to develop, maintain and improve their health and wellbeing.
We would like to know what self-care means to you, how you practice self-care and things that prevent you from practising self-care.

Mental health
For advice, guidance and links to services that can help your mind stay healthy. We deal with important issues, including mental health, connecting with others, volunteering in your community and coping with bereavement.
Connecting with others
It’s really important to spend time with others, make friends and build a social and support network for yourself in your local community.
There are lots of groups in the community where you can socialise, make friends and go to events and fun activities as a group.
Keeping active
Keeping active can help you have a healthy weight and reduce your risk of health problems like heart disease, stroke and dementia. It also helps you feel better, happier and less stressed
Diabetes support
For support to manage your diabetes, make changes to the you or lose weight, find support services and infomration on Type 2 diabetes remission programme.
Free Vitamin D for residents 60+
Newham residents aged 60 or over are eligible for free vitamin D supplements to help you stay healthy. This is because it can be harder for people aged 60 and over to get enough vitamin D.
Quit Well Newham Stop Smoking Service
Quit Well Newham can provide Newham residents with free advice and support to quit.
Face-to-face support is available at a location near you. Support is available in English, Bengali, Urdu, Gujrati and Lithuanian. BSL Support is also available.
Drugs and Alcohol support
For information on support available on cutting down drinking, quitting drug or substance use.
Winter Wellness
For information on tips, support/ services available to help you keep well during the colder months, keeping active etc.
