Parents in Mind Perinatal Mental Health Peer Support
Our peer supporters are local mums who have experienced poor mental health during pregnancy or early parenthood who are now well, and can offer their time to support others. Volunteers provide a friendly listening ear as well as signpost to services and organisations that may be helpful to the woman’s individual circumstances.
Maternity Services at Newham University Hospital
Welcome to our maternity service at Newham Hospital. We help to deliver around 5,500 babies a year, making us one of the busiest maternity units in the country. We are very proud of our service and we are committed to providing high quality maternity care.
We provide care at Newham Hospital and in the community, primarily to women who live in the London boroughs of Newham, Barking, Havering and Redbridge. However, we also welcome women from outside these boroughs to come and give birth at our hospital.
Maternity Mates
Maternity Mates is currently open to pregnant women living in Newham, Tower Hamlets or Waltham Forest who do not have a suitable support network, or have specific needs or healthcare issues.
The project provides emotional and practical support during pregnancy, birth and beyond, working alongside midwives and other health professionals.
