NHS health checks aim to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, Type 2 diabetes or dementia.
What is an NHS Health Check?
An NHS Health Check is a free check-up of your overall health.
It can tell you if you're at higher risk of developing health problems, such as:
- Heart disease
- Diabetes
- Kidney disease
- Stroke
- Dementia (if you're over 65)

Who can have a free NHS Health Check?
This is for adults aged 40 to 74 who do not have certain pre-existing conditions.
How do you book a Health Check?
You will receive a letter from your GP inviting you for a free NHS Health Check every 5 years. You can also call your GP surgery to book a Health Check.
